The Costa del Sol is generally known as the area that stretches from Gibraltar in the West to Málaga in the East and Ronda in the North. Its geographic centre would lie somewhere around Marbella.

In winter the temperature averages 18°C and rarely falls below 12°C. The summer is hot, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 40°C, although it is noticeably milder than in other areas of Andalucia, due to its proximity to the beach, the range of mountains of the "Serrania de Ronda" [where it does snow some winters], and the effect of the "Levante" and "Poniente" winds.
